Films for Chapman University

Hi Beautiful!

Today I will be sharing my experience in makeup for films which I have been helping out for students in Chapman University. There were in total of three shot-films which I have helped out. Be warn that there might be some disturbing pictures shown in this post.

The first film was about a volunteer who visits an elderly who suffers from diabetic. So my work was to create a rotten leg. If you did not know, I really enjoy doing special effects and fashion makeup. So of course, I was more than willing to help them out! :D So we discussed through texting and email on the details, venue and etc. Did a few trials on myself to let them see the effects they wanted.

We then settled with the final look for that day. So on the actual day, I headed down to Common Wealth where the filming would be held.

Common Wealth

Met the actress, Beatrice, who I was going to do my makeup on. Beatrice was a friendly old lady, had fun chatting with her as I did her makeup. Found out that she has been acting for awhile and usually helped out for student films. She even had to dressed up as a green monster before, having her face painted green, she even mention she had a tough time removing the makeup. Hahaha.

Anyway here is the final look that I did to her leg. Sorry that it looks kinda disturbing. (some felt quite gross out after seeing it, but that means I am a good right? Since I manage to make it look realistic! ) :p

Special Effect: Diabetic; Rotten leg

Anyway I stayed for while before I left. Must say that Beatrice acting was good. She was quite engross in her role. But that is what acting is all about, being engross in your own role which can bring out the character in you.

The second short-film was a murder scene. Below is the poster for this film:

It was a simple makeup for the actress and actor. It was located at CHIIF CAMERAS,
Excelsior Shopping Centre. However when I reach there, the director requested to have a beard for the actor, so that it will make him look tired and shag. And so I did as he requested. Add some dark circles and a beard for him. What do you guys think?

He says " shhhhhhhhhh..."

The third short-film I helped out was called the Last Wish. I was supposed to do an aging makeup for an elderly. I found it weird, why would I need to do an aging makeup for someone who is already in his 50s? Thats is until I met him, Michael, I was quite surprised that he maintain his look and figure well. He looked like almost in his late 30s or early 40s instead. So as usual was chatting with my customer as I did his makeup. Michael was used to the fact that people was shocked seeing him look younger despite his age and thus they always have to find a makeup artist to make him look older. "Its kinda depressing, you know.", Michael says.

Here is a before and after look for Michael:

If you are wondering why he looks paler, its cause he is supposed to look like he is dying in this film.
Here are a few more pictures behind the scenes:

It was fun, working with the students from Chapman University and it was indeed my pleasure helping them out. Being an ex student from Mass Communication, I really can see the difference in their learning between polytechnic and university. Their equipment used and all is really much advanced from what I learned back when I learned in my poly days. So yeah, thats it for today.

Signing off~
